６月５日に石川県女性センターで行われたEnglish Festivalに参加しました。スピーチ部門に２年の定免さんとカルキさんが出場し、それぞれ英語ですばらしいスピーチを発表しました。また、ステージパフォーマンスの部では『Meirin Quiz Show Returns』と題し、日本の怪談がモチーフの寸劇とクイズを掛け合わせた発表を披露しました。結果は、カルキさんがスピーチの部で優勝、ステージパフォーマンスの部も優秀６校の一つに選ばれました。カルキさんは１１月に愛知県でおこなわれる東海北陸ブロック大会に向けて、部全体としても同じく１１月に県内でおこなわれるDrama Festivalに向けて、よりよい発表ができるよう練習に励んでいこうと思います。

     We participated in the English Festival held at the Ishikawa Prefectural Women's Center on June 5th. In the speech competition, second-year students Ms. Jomen and Ms. Karki each delivered excellent speeches in English. In the stage performance category, we presented a show titled "Meirin Quiz Show Returns," which combined a short play based on Japanese ghost stories with a quiz. Ms. Karki won first place in the speech competition, and our stage performance was selected as one of the top six schools. Ms. Karki will be competing in a regional competition to be held in Aichi Prefecture in November, and all of the club members will be practicing hard to give an even better performance for the Drama Festival, also to be held in November.

7月19日、私達英語部はALTのJacob先生、Lily先生と一緒にsummer partyを行いました。白玉粉から白玉を作ったり、缶詰のフルーツ（パイナップルみかんなど）を切ったりして、フルーツポンチを作りました。暑い夏にぴったりな冷たくて美味しいフルーツポンチづくりは夏休み前のいい思い出になりました。
summer party の最後には、6月に部を引退した3年生と、この夏で明倫高校での勤務を終えるALTの2人へ、メッセージ入り色紙を贈りました。

 

We held a summer party with Jacob and Lily on the last day of the 1st term. We made Shiratama dumplings from Shiratama powder, cut canned fruits such as pineapples and oranges, and made fruit punch with soda. It was perfect for this hot summer to make a chilly delicious dessert!

At the end of the party, we gave message boards to the 3rd year members who stepped down from the club and the ALTs who will leave Meirin this summer.
